Sideband
Sideband is a contemporary music collective founded by composers Peter McNamara, Brad Gill and Tristan Coelho. The aim of the collective is to develop and present experimental and innovative new music from young and established Australian composers and/or composers with a strong Australian affiliation. Sideband collaborates with a close circle of outstanding performers that have contributed to a number of compilation and featured composer album recordings. Sideband's 2nd album includes works by Coelho, Gill and McNamara as well as renowned Australian composers Božidar Kos, Roger Smalley and Katia Tiutiunnik, moving freely between hard-hitting grooves and serene soundscapes. Works including electronics are particularly featured, including the vintage live electronic works Monody and Spectrum by Smalley and Kos. Sideband's second CD is also devoted to Božidar Kos and Roger Smalley, who sadly passed away in 2015 and were a prominent influence on all 3 of Sideband's founders.
